New Works Calgary’s 36th Season

Innovative sound and music creators and performers have always looked to the future with ambition, curiosity and enthusiasm and have nourished their imagination by striving to transform that vision into the present.

For its 36th season, 2020 Vision – Playing It Forward, New Works Calgary presents a diverse selection of visionary new music including a co-production with Honen’s always-exciting Bison Noir; the 4th Calgary New Music Festival with a weekend of engaging performances by airborne extended (Vienna), Linda Bouchard and the Grdina/Houle/Loewen Trio (San Francisco/Vancouver), Proteus Saxophone Quartet (Calgary/Montréal), and Calgary’s Timepoint Ensemble, Land’s End Ensemble, Bug Incision and the Jeremy Brown Collective; a riveting solo vocal performance by Helen Pridmore based on the writings of the 17th century writer Sor Juana; and the voice and electric guitar quartet  ensemble, The Instruments of Happiness, in a performance of The Lioness of Iran.
