The 2014-2015 New Works Calgary season, Resounding the Sonorous Canvas, will comprise six main concert events and a major new festival for the Calgary public. New Works Calgary will host two visiting international chamber ensembles, two Calgary music ensembles, one Canadian soloist and one international soloist during the season as it celebrates its 31st season of presenting new and innovative music events in Calgary.

Six new Canadian compositions will be premiered by New Works Calgary during the 2014-15 season. Each concert event will involve an opportunity for visiting musicians and composers to interact with the concert public and many of the events will involve workshops for students and interested audience members. New Works Calgary will also continue its outreach activities in collaboration with Calgary Public Library Services.

One of Calgary’s foremost exponents of new Canadian chamber music and one of New Works Calgary’s resident ensembles, The Rubbing Stone Ensemble will present a concert of new Canadian works including world premieres of newly commissioned pieces from Canadian composers David Eagle, Melissa Hui, Nova Pon and Vincent Ho. The culmination of the New Works Calgary 2014-15 season will be the inaugural edition of the Calgary New Music Festival, a two week long festival involving numerous musicians and ensembles from the Calgary area including the Wild West New Music Ensemble, Calgary Pro Musica, the Land’s End Chamber Ensemble, Kensington Sinfonia, Spiritus Chamber Choir, organist Neil Cockburn, The Rubbing Stone Ensemble, Bison Noire, Ensemble Resonance….and more!
